The Walking Dead - season 7 worth the watch?

So I didn't watch season 7. I know about negan from commercials, etc. I watched a few episodes of season 7 last night then just gave up and went to 8.1. Is there anything worth watching between 7.3 and 8.1 or is it just filler? 7.2 and 7.3 just were BORING with everyone walking around like whipped dogs.

You could stop at season 3 and pick up at 8 and you wouldn't have missed a damn thing.
