It was okay, but Unknown was MUCH better.

I didn't like this movie at all, and contemplated walking out. I stayed to see if maybe, just maybe, it could redeem itself. But, just when I thought it couldn't get any dumber, it was no Lloyd Christmas.

If you're gonna have God prophecy about each individual and give them a fate/destiny that apparently changes from time to time, the change would imply that God makes mistakes. The movie also makes you sympathize with someone willfully disregarding God's will, and makes you cheer for the angel that rebels and helps him, and portrays the ones trying to follow "the plan" as the bad guys.
It also implies that God had a hand in the death of damon's father and brother, when never in the Bible is divine justice executed on an innocent person in order to teach a prophet or the Israelites a lesson in life.
It made God out to be a cruel, uncaring, heartless corporate executive that looks at nothing more than the bottom line. It also portrays "the plan" in such a manner that it doesn't provide answers to questions that everyone asks themselves, why does God require the things he does.
It conveniently mentions that the divine influence was withdrawn in 1910, just prior to WWI, giving the impression that nothing more than human nature is involved in such large-scale destruction.
So, IMO, the movie was very sacreligious in it's attempt to show a divine influence in human lives.
ETA: forgot spell check.
