Who knows. But, there have been legitimate/credible stories of people making a bundle off of buying storage units.
Yes there are stories. I know people who do this stuff as a hobby and occasionally they make a nice profit, but the 10,000 to 20,000 dollar day stories are just that. They are stories someone told someone about something that happened somewhere else.
To make money off storage units you really have to run a thrift store, which the people on this show actually do. You can make money doing this kind of thing, but it's a lot more work than just sorting through some boxes.
AND...
This show is overly scripted. No one wants to watch a bunch of guys sorting through boxes of bills and old underwear.

Ohhhhh interesting.
What's the average price a unit goes for at one of your facilities? Also, how would you rate the junk in them?

not only that, but someone who owes $200 in storage fees isn't going to leave $2,500 worth of electronics, baseball cards, furniture, and assorted valuables in their unit. The show is beyond scripted.

average price would depend on size of unit.Climate control units also sell for more but dont have has many auctioned.I would say 25% junk in units such as pictures and papers.I had 16 units today which is more than normal average price was 250.00

Very good point. Just b/c someone says an item is worth x amount doesn't mean they will get that amount.
This. I always tell my wife, something is only worth what someone will pay for it.
I do still enjoy the show though. Find it interesting that in the newer episodes you can see there are twice as many people at the auctions as there were for the first ones. Like, too many people think they are going to get a locker and get rich.

Usually it's just a lot of work for a few dollars. Years ago a went to the auctions and bought a few and never got enough to make me want to continue going and buying.
The reason I started was because a friend of mine his Mother lost her whole house worth of furniture. I estimated it was worth 50-100K worth of furniture paintings, silver, coins, guns etc. I helped them load it into the facility and it was some amazing stuff. All because she didn't pay her $600 storage fee. It was one of those huge deep units. So I figured if she was that dumb other people had to be too. I just never found them and gave up.

And yet somebody earlier on this thread said that kind of thing never happens. Of course it does. Quite a lot, I would assume.

I have a friend that owns a mini storage place and he said he makes more money off selling the crap in the units after people don't pay than anything else.
