Just got back from seeing it, and I'd recommend it. Pretty fricking funny

I will have to say that despite liking Anchorman, feeling pretty good about Talladega Nights, and liking Knocked Up I did not like this movie.

Too many of the jokes simply involved Will Ferrell saying frick. That and the fact that this is the 40th incarnation of what is essentially the same character for Ferrell.

Were there random pieces of brilliance in it? Totally, but I just felt to many of the jokes were just repeated over and over to whatever humor was in them disappeared.

IMO, Anchorman was the Will Ferrell peak

I would agree with that.

It seems in basically every movie Will Ferrell is in now he plays the arrogant, loud, somewhat childish, and ignorant guy who happens to be really good at something.

I saw it today. It sucked serious arse. Will Ferrell has finally worn out his welcome. He needs to stick to cameos.

IMO it was Ferrell's funniest movie since Anchorman.
I laughed a great deal throughout the movie.

This was the only time i laughed really hard. Some other parts were good.

I didin't think it was great, but it was funny.

Not in my top 10 comedies

This movie isn't in anyone's top 10 comedies but it didn't suck by any means. John C. Riley made this movie.

For all the people who say Step Brothers sucked, one or more of the following may be true:

1)you saw the movie alone, with no one to laugh with

2)your favorite movies consist of the AFI top 100

3)you have no sense of humor

4)you're a nazi

ok, just got back from this movie.

Rank the people in the movie in order of being funny:

1. Will Ferrel
2. a-hole brother Derek
3. Derek's co-worker that says "Bam!"
4. Seth Rogan
5. Derek's Wife

123451. John C. Reilly - i don't think i laughed at him a single time. He overacts in a really phoney, canned way that is not midly funny. Ferrel overacts too, but it's hilarious.

What did Reilly add to this movie.

There were a few funny parts, but overall it was kind of a dud.

IMHO, I felt the exact opposite about his performance.

i am also tired of him as a lead kind of guy. he is a one trick pony, and his gig is up. How many bombs has he put out in the last few years?

He needs to go back to being part of an ensemble cast like in SNL or Old School.....his strengths really shine in that situation.

It works for him. I don't want him trying to do like Jim Carrey and Sandler did. Try to be a serious actor!

Spoiler

Was it just me or did anyone else nearly piss in their pants when Derek was showing the house and Brennen was dressed as a Nazi, while Dale was wearing a klan robe?

Or, on the opposite, you have a well-developed, intellectual sense of humor. I saw Step Brothers with some friends, and I probably laughed about 4 or 5 times. These brain dead comedies suck; Americans don't like to work for a joke.
