I am with you Coyote. I thought I hated it, but I forced myself to watch a few and actually really liked it. Then I began from the beginning and probably liked it as much as the the Next Generation. Really liked how it ended.

I will give credit to Voyager - that was a great ending.
In hindsight, the story does seem to be a riff on the Anabasis, but Starfleet style. Mrs. Midnight and I are rewatching TNG and, for continuity, we started blending TNG S6 with DS9 S1 (which we just finished yesterday), so we may do the same when the time comes for Voyager.
If I watch it with that lens (Xenophon's Anabasis), I may come away with a different impression (this will be my third watch through).
I'm realizing now that there are a few TNG episodes I've seen only once or twice.

Also the episode where Picard's artificial heart stops and Q shows him what life would be like if he never took chances
Was going to post this one. One of my favorites.

If any of you like podcasts and Star trek, check out The Greatest Generation: A Star Trek Podcast by two guys who are slightly embarrassed to have a Star trek podcast
It does an episode by episode rewatch of The Next Generation and throws in Dick and Fart jokes, as well as perspective on the way scenes are shot/camera angles and such. The two guys have done filming for companies so they have good knowledge of that kind of stuff.
The first few episodes starts off slow, but it picks up and gets really funny. Now they are in Deep Space Nine. The Music and drops are awesome too.

Sorry Bro but DS9 still holds up today and doesnt seem odd or stiff. The acting was top notched and it still kept many of Gene Roddenberry laws except for when it comes to politics, religion, and war.
TNG i still never get how 39 lost ship was consider something that crippled the fedederation. Its 39 friggin ships. The Federation own 8000 light years worth of space. They have over 150 members world and 39 ship is a devastating loss?
DS9 Singular fleet compose of on average 300 Starship, and the Federation had like 12 of those fleet and many more rolling off the assembly line. Heck they lost close to a hundred ships in an engagement against the dominion and still manage to still protect most of their space.
Anyway, segwaying, DS9 showed how the federation idles held up against other culture in a believable fashion. TNG show you like a handful of people from a different race and you are to assume the majority of the planet is that way.
DS9 is just better, however TNG is mostly fun and campy. Its all depends on your mood, you want an epic or something light.

S5E6 “The Game”
The crew get manipulated into an addictive game which puts the ship in danger. Wil Wheaton and Ashley Judd save the day.
You could actually replace the games with smart phones.
