Starting a spoiler thread, since people don't necessarily watch the episodes the night that they're released.

Some fan predictions came true this week... the identity of Ash Tyler (which is ballsy for a show to cast a middle eastern/asian looking actor as an enemy agent). And the identity of The Terran Emperor (wasn't my guess, but fandom was all over it).

On the reveal that the mirror universe Stamets is mentally in touch with the original universe Stamets... That's something that was used in DC's Star Trek comics after Star Trek III. At the end of III, Spock was reborn with a brain that was a clean slate. In the comics, they had the Mirror Spock "reboot" our Spock with his similar mind. Before ST IV came out, they wiped his mind again so that they'd be in sync with the film series.

'Star Trek: Discovery' Mystery Explained: Inside the "Javid Iqbal" Reveal

quote:

"From the beginning, the dream was that we were going to have just one actor play two roles," co-showrunner Gretchen J. Berg tells The Hollywood Reporter. Adds co-showrunner Aaron Harberts: "We had always known that we wanted to do a story where a Klingon was modified and turned into a human and was put aboard one of our starships." However, the producers didn't know who it would be until they got to work with Latif — who was originally cast as Kol, a role Kenneth Mitchell went on to play.

I thought it was a nice touch to details that they had Tyler be shorter then Voq when they met. Given that Tylers bones had been shortened during the surgery.

I figured he was a Klingon and I we thinking the Asian captain would be the emperor just because we hadn't seen her yet.

Holy shite, I'm never right in guessing.

Three episodes ago I figured Tyler to be a Klingon. I was thinking the Captain in the pilot was probably the emporer.
Then the crackpot theory....comes true.

Lorca was from the mirror universe.

The second half of this season is insane.
I want a whole Terran Empire show.

I REALLY want to see Zachary Quinto cameo as Burnham's "brother".

I decided to pay for the service.
I was stealing it this whole time and after the mirror episodes I felt like I owed it to them.
I'm hooked now.

I wish they would release all the episodes at once. I am actually hoping the week goes fast. I need my fix.

I am continually impressed by the production quality of this show. I think this was the final episode of the season tonight. The ending got me very excited for next season!! This is a good show. Sorry to see Captain Lorca go but hopefully he will have a good replacement next season.

Amazing ending. Tilley with Clint Howard was hilarious. Season ended with the best upbeat ending ever.
