tony dies dumbfrick

and as far as the movie goes, afreaux is right. it would have to be a prequel. but david chase left us with a definitive ending. i say no movie

an opinion that not only holds more weight than yours but he has a clear argument for why tony died. You can't give me an argument for why he didn't.

god you're awful. just go read the site. it's incredibly accurate. don't waste your time posting if it's not an actual intelligent thought about the sopranos or its ending

I didn't see him die, did you? Chase didn't say he died, none of the cast or crew said he died.
I'm not saying he didn't die, I'm just saying no one really knows.

alright dude, this is a short version of how david chase did this.

the entire first half of the last season, they beat it into the audience's head the whole idea of when you die, "you don't hear it." it just happens, total darkness, and chase stresses that symbolism with the extended black screen before the credits. the entire scene in the diner, from the atmosphere to the ringing door, is centered around tony's point of view. the weird guy walks by, tony's head is down and his back turned. then darkness. christ.

The only problem is that Bobby is the one who said "you probably don't hear anything".

Remember the drawn out way he died? He definitely heard (and felt) it coming.

I think that Chase's point was that these guys were morons who had an overly romaticized view of the life they led, to include an overly optimistic view of how it was going to end.

Tony may or may not have died but using Bobby's quote as evidence of that seems to be misguided. Chase has constantly shown throughout the series that death is violent and brutal and those that are killed are almost always aware of what is going on.

There are no peaceful exits.

Only David Chase knows what happened to Tony.

In addition to saying that the answers to what happens to Tony is in the episode, he also says that too many people were overanalyzing it. References to oranges, etc, those were coincidences, he laughed at the fact that people were comparing onion rings to communion.

If you read his book, there's a line which opens up to the possibility of Tony living at least past the diner situation. In the end, even Gandolfini doesn't know what happened to Tony, only David Chase really knows.

I think you should quit attempting to be the authority on The Sopranos if you did not know this basic premise of the show. How do I know Tony was not killed in the finale?...because the last scene of the series showed him ALIVE. Everything else is pure speculation.
