I cringe when I hear people refer to anything as character story after the plot shift in true detective.

No in those old lost threads was talking about the depth of characters. Those massive discussions that ruled the early days of this board were all about the myths and theories.

Or Maybe that's all I paid attention to and that is the reason I wasn't satisfied with the last season.

The finale was the last straw for a lot of people. The show made no attempt to answer any questions the last three seasons. A lot of us hoped we'd get at least some answers. But Abrams is a lazy writer who thinks 1000 unanswered questions is the same as an open ending. Inception was a good ending. Lost was a joke.

So what were you hoping for? A Q&A Panel where Damon and Carlton just answer questions? The thing is they answered a lot more questions than people give them credit for, since I swear to god people bitch about the polar bears not being answered, even though they go out of the way to address it at least 6 damn times where they came from. There was really only one large resounding unanswered question going into the finale, and they answered just about everything major before that episode.

I loved the show but think they spent too much time on the flashbacks.

What? I think the best portions of the show are in the flashbacks. Don't know how anyone could dislike the flashbacks in Season 1 at least (unless they were Kate episodes).

I'm nowhere close to anything like that. I'm perfectly fine with the fact there are people that HATE lost. Loathe it..despise it. That's quite alright. But those people didn't like the show for 6 years then form that hateful opinion after the finale. Those are typically people who never really liked it all that much anyway.

quote:

It was 6 years worth, how can 60 minutes be a final straw? I look at as 3 different options:

1) People loved it and would have loved it regardless of what happened in the finale
2) people didn't like it and wouldn't have liked it regardless of what happened in the finale
3) people who were on the fence and didn't really have an opinion either way, so they let their last impression of the show make up their mind for them.

Well if you mean only people who didn't like it based on the last episode, then my mistake.

But who are those people? I've never seen them. Anyone not liking the last episode generally had major problems throughout a large portion of the show.

quote:

never said any such thing.

Above? You even say there "aren't many people in group 3."

quote:

Says who? How would you know what they mean? When people say the ending, I take that to mean the ending. As in, the last episode.

Because the last episode of show isn't necessarily all resolutions, especially for a show like Lost that had a lot of minor reveals cascade throughout the final episodes.

Again, where are people who ONLY hate Lost for the last episode alone?

Even if they say that, again, they most likely have problems throughout they just never say they hate it.

quote:

Did you watch every episode? I would consider that all in. And you most likely formed your opinion on LOST looooong before the last 60 minutes.

Of course I did, but again, all in would signify being involved in the discussion at least to me. I only wasn't involved with Seasons 2-4 discussion because that's when I gave up on Lost for awhile when it was mostly terrible.

quote:

Did I ever suggest otherwise? I have said many times there are plenty of things with the show I don't like. A few episodes I downright can't stand and didn't even watch while rewatching the series. But ultimately yeah...I think you can box people into "I liked lost" or "I didn't like lost". Just like with any show, or food, or hobby, etc.

But you boxed people into Not liking Lost as people who...

quote:

people didn't like it and wouldn't have liked it regardless of what happened in the finale

At least that's the way it read. Basically saying they don't have a legitimate critique. If I read it wrong, again, my mistake.

quote:

I'll reiterate, I simply don't believe that someone could truly like the show for 99% of it, then not like it based on the last episode. I think the people who say that are people like yourself who probably made up their minds somewhere past the halfway point, and likely before season 6, that they were just kinda done with the show but rode it to the end anyway just out of obligation.

That's more clear. But really, is there anyone who "liked" the show all the way up until the very last hour of it? Really?

Bueller?
