No idea what your problem with TV shows is, but here's a list of good movies on Netflix. This isn't comprehensive at all and these movies are from all sorts of genres.

Tucker & Dale vs Evil
The Evil Dead
The Cabin in the Woods
Lost in Translation
Hugo
Chinatown
The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo
Memento
An American Werewolf in London
Kagemush
Downfall
The Hunt for Red October
Good Will Hunting
Drive
Clerks
Terminator 2
Ferris Bueller
Highlander
The Artist
The Pianist
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Once Upon a Time in the West
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
True Grit (both versions)

Bump because I just got Netflix last week and I'm kind of ignorant to how it works as far as release dates go, and how weird their catalog seems to be. Can't seem to find any HBO series etc. but virtually every TV show ever produced seems to be on there. At least the ones I've looked for from NBC, Fox etc.

I did watch the first 4 seasons of breaking bad already within this week and I've noticed they have a kick arse selection of documentaries that seem to be unrivaled by ANY streaming networks or movie stores (online or even brick and mortar) I've ever seen. That alone makes Netflix way worth the 8 dollars a month.

So how does the new release movies work? I've always been told that they get all the new movies like a month later than blockbuster or the other on-line movie stores, but I can't seem to find anything on there that's been released in the past 2-3 months, at least not what I'd call "Blockbuster or Big Budget," although I've noticed some very good and recent Indy movies. Just noticed End of Watch and other than that, very few others that you'd normally be waiting for on those "New release" Tuesdays.

Also, throw out some good documentaries that you happen to love or watched recently. I've watched a lot, but I'm sure there has to be a few, especially more recent ones that's slipped through my net.

ETA: So for tl:dr's 1.) recommend me some good documentaries. 2.) how does the new release thing work on Netflix? Like just as en example, when could I expect to see movies like "Snitch" or "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" that just came out yesterday on Bluray?
