The episode ended with a close up of Aaron's face and he opened he's eyes and gasped for air. I guess it was the nanites that saved him

Didn't they say at some point last year that they were inside everyone already? They are microscopic so you could just inhale them. They were keeping that lesbian Rachel met on the way to the tower alive.
The injected nanites had just been reprogrammed to fix Rachel's leg last year. I'm assuming that when they were reactivated after the missiles, that they were reprogrammed again accidentally.
But if they try some shite where the nanites are trying to communicate via the insects/changing physics...I'm done
