Good movie.
Better than all the others. Not even in the same universe, actually. So much better.
I always thought the problem was because he was a Vietnam vet who was a vagrant - in other words, a combination of the two.

1. He thought he was a hippie and a vagrant who disobeyed him.
2. In the book, he is a veteran of the Chosin Reservoir. Not exactly a softie or piece of civilian trash.
