My wife and I have been introducing each other to movies we each enjoyed individually as kids/teenagers that the other hadn't seen, and this was her latest pick.
Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon get transported into a 1950s sitcom.
The acting by Joan Allen, Jeff Daniels, and J.T. Walsh was great. Bill Macy continued his trend of playing more utterly pathetic chatacters than any other actor.
I enjoyed the middle third of this more than just about anything I've watched recently. The beginning and end are good-not-great, but once you get immersed in the world and before the story gets a hamfisted it is spectacular. Wish I had seen it on the big screen.

I really like Pleasantville. I showed it to my daughter a year or so ago and she loved it.
The writer/director Garry Ross had a solid run of turning very generic sounding ideas into good movies. Big, Dave and Pleasantville are all very high concept and I think are all very entertaining.
