Is it just me that who ever the actor is overacts way to much and is not believable at all? I'm halfway through season 2 and he almost is killing the show for me. Am I the only one?

I don't think you are the only one, however I disagree. If you think he is over acting, then I would suggest you haven't been exposed to a lot of people of his character's ilk. For me, he is actually one of the more well-played and well-written characters in that despite all he has, his desperation and smallness of character are really brought to the forefront. His unabashed support of his own ego and selfishness make a "winner" on the outside appear to be smaller and and unsympathetic on the inside. I really hated his character in the first few seasons, but after watching the show a few times the character's portrayal has become one of my favorites.

He's not overacting; he portrays the smarmy fake insecure false bravado like what the above poster said...it's over-compensation...sort of the type of shite you see on the Rant.

I guess I don't find it believable because he acts the same way around everyone, wife coworkers, Peggy, side women etc. You never see him "let his guard down". I also think his timing is off and he does his lines in an in-smooth nature

ETA: Just read where you said you were only through Season 2, so I'll spare you that spoiler.
My non-spoilery take, the longer you watch the show you'll see that he's arguably one of the best written characters on the show. Specifically in the changes he makes through the series as big things happen to him.

This. The actor has to portray an actor. Which isn't easy.
And he does an amazing job of it.

He "overacts" because that is what his character is. He's an insecure, spoiled douchebag.
SPOILER:
The funny thing his, he grows on you, especially in season 4.

That's it perfectly. You said it better.

1) he's let his guard down plenty of times
2) he does it often with his facial expressions.

Well I guess it will change the more I watch but you notice when he is on scene and it draws me out of the plot and aggravates me. That's just my opinion though.
