Lol I wouldn’t go that far but yeah she’s worthless. I’m telling you this is turning into a CBS Dr Quinn type show for old people

If they stick to the storyline in the book.....things will get very interesting with Roger’s storyline as well as with Bonnet (don’t forget he is alive and better believe he crosses paths again with them).

My wife is reading them and is just a bit past where the show is. She says the same as you.

The episodes like the last one where they don't go anywhere and nothing really happens is a way for the producers to save money because they are going over budget. This season does have potential, I think Murtagh dies this year.

Yeah I work in media biz and am good friends with a director of programming that was with STARZ for 10 years until Lionsgate bought them in 2016/2017.
He and all his employees were let go and he told me Lionsgate is spending about half what they use to spend on programming and budget, etc
So it makes sense they have gone cheap the past two seasons. The quality and production of seasons 1-3 were much better.
S2 had great visuals in France and had ships and great scenery. Now they basically just film in the woods of Scotland. Has to be way cheaper

Just watched S5 EP #4 "The Company We Keep" and it was more of the same that we've been seeing for the last 3 episodes. Some of the biggest takes it Roger is hopelessly out of his depth in this world. Some of the "Claire Frazier: Medicine Woman" and her medical advice papers had some movement and Brianna is seeing Steven Bonnet everywhere.
This show has lost a lot of the supporting cast that really helped this show. Jamie and Claire have become bogged down into an almost mundane existence.
This show needs a spark soon

Just watched last nights and I might be done for good. This is turning into taking an Ambien for me.
These storylines are very weak and nobody cares about some random guy that gets sick so Dr Quinn can come treat them and act like it’s a tense scene.
Even my wife who was once obsessed with this show read an US Weekly during this weeks episode. Lol

S5 EP#5: "Perpetual Adoration"
I'm going to keep the spoilers out of this until more people jump in.
Good Episode. It felt much more like the "old-school" feel of the show as Claire went back to narrating her feelings and experiences leading up to the theme of the show.
Jamie's story had a nice transition with his relationship with the Redcoat leader accompanying him on the manhunt for Murtagh.
I've been really critical of Brianna and especially Roger and I was pleasantly surprised to see the writers give them a good story to solidify their relationship.
They have a good foundation established in this episode.

This was the best episode of the season and i wish they did more flashbacks and narration to help move the story along.
At least its going somewhere. The past few weeks before Sunday have been rough.

Agree.
One of the major problems with the show is that they did not kill off Murtagh when they should have. Jamie was not a regulator sympathizer in the book, so he did not look so wishy washy.
It's like telling a lie. More lies are needed to make up for the first one.
So what if Murtagh was a beloved character? Think of the great characters that were killed off in GOT.
I have to disagree about wanting more of Claire's narrative.

Well I can agree with that. Maybe not more of it and stick with the flashbacks and flash forwards
I just feel like they are forcing tension with non relevant items and it’s not working

Very good point. I like Muragh very much, but I also dislike seeing his character being diminished much like I'm seeing happen to Lord John. I had much rather see a good death on film than a mediocre life.

So it was pretty much the 4 of us that took last season to like 20 pages right?
My wife and I started watching Outlander around Christmas. We watched the Season 5 premier last night. I've been avoiding this thread like the plague, but we'll probably get to up to date point of Season 5 by the end of the week.

Season 5: Episode 7 "The Ballad of Roger Mac"
This was the best episode of the season and probably a top 5 for all seasons. This had all of the elements that I've enjoyed with the series.
I had to do a double-take when I saw Graham McTavish (Dougal Mackenzie) showing up presumably as one of his sons.
The Battle of Alamance Creek was like the Battle of Culloden; a hopeless battle against the superior British Army but this time Jamie was on the Red Coat side and Murtagh would not take the sound advice to retreat.
It was sad to see Murtagh Fitzgibbons die but his story was finished and I appreciated his death being in the form of saving Jamie's life as is was sworn to.
Then there is Roger. This is one of the most unlucky people in fiction. Chasing the the very attractive and sassy Brianna through time has gotten him beaten, sold into slavery and tortured by Indians and now it appears he's been hanged based on the cliff-hanger. According to the books he actually was hanged and survived so we'll see if they continue with that.
Great episode.

Sam and Duncan were exceptional in this episode. I really felt for Jamie when he brought Murtagh to Claire. Damn that was well done.
I didn't even realize that was Graham McTavish until I watched the after show. And yes, he is playing Dougal and Geillis' son Buck, who is an ancestor of Roger.

I can do without Claire humping Jamie. It's just gotten creepy now.

One of the best acted scenes of the entire show.

I don't see how they can kill him off. Or they would have to completely change the storylines going forward and just not base it off the books anymore.
