Anyone seen this? Just watched the first episode. Really really good story about a fictional totalitarian Poland through the eyes of a cop, the resistance, and a master student in judiciary. Only thing is it is English dubbed and the subtitles don’t match up so having them both on is kinda annoying. Very much a Man in the iron castle vibe

Oh and there’s hot Polish bewbs in the first ep

I posted on this without reply. I'm glad someone else watched it. I agree it is a very, very good show. I watched all eight episodes in an evening and then the next morning. I highly recommend anyone looking for a new show to give this a try. And, there has to be a season 2 which I will look forward to. In pointing to a disappointment, I'll try to be cryptic and that is there are certain characters that likely don't make it to season 2 and I will miss/him/her/them.

Listen in English language and don't read the subtitles.

I’m on episode 6 right now. It’s really good but a bit hard to follow with the dubbed language and 100 things going on at once. I’m hoping I’ll get a breakdown of everything soon. The main chick is fine though. The law students gf is fine too. We get to see both pairs of bewbs

Yes, there are some gorgeous women in the cast and they are very much Polish and not Russians. I doubt Polish cinema/TV would cast Russians as they likely don't care for them very much.

So this a spoilerish question for anyone that’s reading this.....

I get most of what’s going on I think. I just found out the main guys dad didn’t die in the blast but in a prison camp. So they killed or deported a bunch of freedom fighters, took their children and raised them in high party power families, and blamed the blast on them so they could impose communism. Similar to V for Vendetta. The main guy and girl were friends as kids. She recruits those children to kill their adoptive party parents and themselves in some cases. But wtf is going on with the nukes, the general, the USA, and mossad. I think I just missed it. The polish general guy wants to overthrow the party right? But he was in the picture with the bad people who were getting killed.

Ok the end of episode 6 just passed and are thet trying to insinuate main dudes dad turned in main girls parents? Is that why he got prison camp. It’s so confusing without names and dubbed engrish

Difficult questions and answers not needed for all to get to the end of season 1. The Polish in the show developed their own nuclear weapons and I believe there are indications sold weapons to Iran. The USA is there to take delivery on the remaining nukes to destroy The other gorgeous woman who plays a USA/Israeli agent, I'm not sure what she is doing other than Israel knows the risk of Iran getting nukes. To me the General will end up being a patriot in season 2. An interesting point is if Poland is to be liberated ultimately by the rebels it is the youth of the country who will make it happen. In this show millennials are the good guys. And give yourself time, the USA will come back into focus by the end of the last episode.

Yes, all adults who fought against the State were not killed but some were, others are maybe somewhere else. And I agree there is a lot going on and its hard to keep up with it all. You still have twists and turns to get through to get to the end of episode 8. I need to watch all episodes again and yes, I really think Effy is a babe! Report on the show when you finish.

I will. So this whole plan was hatched at the main guys minister gfs dads wedding? And do we ever get told who was really behind the blast or did I miss it. It was the party right? And who is uncle? I feel like I missed what his purpose is other than arms dealer. Main guys mom becomes an operative for the Irish. So many twists

I think they try to match lip movements and facial expressions when dubbing in English, but the subtitles are a more direct translation of the Polish dialogue. The spoken words don’t always match the subtitles as a result.

I’ve watched two episodes, and can’t decide if I prefer the English version with subtitles off, or the original Polish version with English subtitles.

Yes, the party is responsible for the blasts to implicate the "good guys". Having seen it I don't know where the plot was hatched nor do I fully understand the significance of the wedding. The wedding was for the father of his #1 girlfriend (you said that). Remember, Kajetan was charged by his professor to investigate a murder of an individual or individuals at the wedding. I'm not sure that is resolved, but a lot of bigwigs from the current State were at that wedding. Uncle is an arms dealer and works with the State. If you're not finished he double-crosses the rebels. Interesting the part the Vietnamese play in his show. They man the computers and do the spying. There are multiple cliffhangers at the end of episode 8 and your questions are going to cause me to carefully watch the show again.

I just started episode 8. His double cross was pretty clear already. I’ll post what I think is happening when it’s over in about an hour.

Holy shite this show is amazing. Episode 8 is legit heart pounding. The Irish people Kaitans mom smothered in were behind the bombing. Effes death was really sad. Security brigade had multiple people inside the rebels. I think that’s what his professor wanted him to find out. The guy who murdered his parents was the double spy all along.

Alright I understand everything now. I was wondering why the blackfish actor was sitting with his gfs dad at the beginning. The wedding photo was a peaceful opposition party, and a few of them planned and executed the bombs to keep Poland communist. The “light brigade” was never really a serious resistance, it was just a group of people getting revenge on their parents murderers. Going forward Kaytan will lead a more serious resistance I’m think supported by America. I’m also guessing his mother survived being shot and that was her at the very end. The entire time the guy who plays the blackfish was looking after him, but he is a bad guy.

Yes, when Kajetan went to the USA he started in Washington DC but ended up in Los Angeles. That woman who opened the door in LA I think is his mother.

This show blows away the show it’s modeled after, Man in the High Castle. Effes death broke my heart. I wonder how many countries will give this show a high enough viewing to warrant a second season. A lot of shows not in English don’t get one. They would’ve been much better served shooting this in English and giving it much more advertising. I was just bored and stumbled on it.

I find that interesting about Netflix shows. They can be gritty and unbelievable at times but viewers can develop a connection with the characters such that you feel bad about the loss of a character or a characters misfortune. These are after all just TV shows but the empathy towards characters can be off the charts. I felt lousy after Effe died also.
