Really going out on a limb there suggesting perhaps the greatest novel of all time. If we are just suggesting anything then I would suggest anything Hemmingway (To Have and To Have Not, Old Man and the Sea being my favorites out of his novels) . All of his stuff is smooth and easy to get through IMO, very fast reads.

A Moveable Feast is also one of my favorites, though it isn't a novel. Always fun to read about how the luminaries of the Lost Generation really were.
