Rambo just doesn't hold up for me. The "rewriting Vietnam" action movies all strike me as kinda pathetic really - and virtually indistinguishable from parody if you change the soundtracks

Not a whole lot left to add to this thread, but if you consider the Beverly Hills Cop series to be action, then I would add that.
Also... another "not typical" action movie series that I enjoyed was this one... although it seems REALLY dated at times now!
And if you want a typical run of the mill action movie not mentioned...
