I hope you're including the last Nolan film in this. Because it was a mess. My rankings right now: 1) The Dark Knight/The Batman (I may have some recency bias on the new one 2) Batman(89 Keaton)/Begins (Bale) 3) Dark Knight Rises 4) Batman Returns 5) Everything else.
The Burton films are super underrated imo. They are the only “trilogy” of Batman films that truly capture the essence of the what the original comics were about. Say what you want about the fight scenes in those films but there’s no denying that the world-building by Burton was phenomenal. Both films were shot entirely with practical effects and on huge soundstages.
The Nolan films were basically just Law and Order with Batman slapped on to them. They’re not bad at all but I definitely think they’re a little overrated.

The people who have seen the movie already rave about it.
And you really don't think those people are predominantly paid shills?

quality has been going down ever since the release of the last Nolan film in 2012.
You missed the start of the downfall by one movie. The Dark Knight Rises was extremely mediocre aside from a couple of set pieces.

No, most people enjoyed it. It made almost 800 million at the box office and has a really good ratings. The majority of the board liked it when it came out but this thread for some reason brought out the haters.
It was surprisingly enjoyable. The Penguin just added to that IMO.
Will be bummed if they can't get this made.
