I think Luke Cage was better than Daredevil season 1, but not better than season 2 or Jessica Jones.

It's cheesy but I liked it. That said, my expectations were low and I was expecting any Oscar winning performances. Take the show FWIW... and you'd enjoy it more.

I think it's comically not bad, actually. As far as comic book shows go, it's pretty good.
Mike Colter plays Luke as a stoic character, like there's something lurking underneath. The problem is: there isn't. The same way Cottonmouth is a terribly flat villain, Luke is a terribly flat hero. The most interesting character in the show is Pops. The others are cardboard cutouts. That's not Colter's fault. That's the writers.
I dig the blaxsploitation vibe and everything, but the style can only make up so much of the lacking substance.
The media is acting like this is a fantastic show because it's a predominantly black cast. I think the only white person in it is, surprise surprise, a crooked cop. Seriously. And the police chief of Harlem is... A black woman. And the most powerful political figure in Harlem is... A black woman. It's predictably left leaning in all that it does. It shifts power away from men to women, the main character is the ultimate figure of blackness and the white man is a slithering little snake. That's why the media loves it.
But even with that predictably left leaning narrative, the show is carried by the charisma of Colter. The character may not have much going on underneath, but Colter draws the audience in with a subdued performance to be the yin to Ali's yang.

Haven't seen an episode of Luke Cage yet, but I thought the guy wasn't bad in Jessica Jones. And although I don't dislike Jessica Jones, some of the acting is certainly bad and situations are forced. But it's still entertaining. But no one is getting an award. Figured Luke Cage would be the same way.

I don't want to finish the series but I have to. It's a thing. I have to at least finish a season once I start. This was a miserable thing during the last season of Arrow.

Not as good as JJ (which I loved). About even with DD but I can't really get into either one of them. With LC I feel like I'm watching a non funny Madea movie. No characters I can really relate to so far. Is this how black people have felt all these years with white washed shows? I can now be empathetic.

daredevil season 2 was awesome.
especially in 4k.
I am slowly working my way through Luke Cage. IMO its not even close to DD or JJ.
A slow moving plot, with limited action and a ultra stoic lead? Certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
Not mine for sure. I'd much prefer to be watching JJ2 or DD 3 if I had the choice.
