Specifically, I would love to learn more about the political events immediately before the outbreak of the war that set the wheels in motion, as well as the early days of Nazi Germany and Hitler's conquering of Europe. I really enjoy learning about the events that led to war.

Anyone got any good recs?

There is a good documentary series on Netflix called Hitler's Circle of Evil. Many episodes focus on the rise of the Third Reich and focus in on some of the power players underneath him.

WW2 in Color. It’s British so it starts way before the war.

ETA: as far as the early days of nazi Germany, watch the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich

The War by Ken Burns. Pretty much a perfect way to spend 7 hours if you are interested in WW2 stuff.
