We read the book in High School and then watched the movie...both were great.
But always read the book first...if you watch the movie first, the picture of the movie characters is in your head the entire time and you don't get to formulate your own vision what they look like and how they act.

Thanks for everyone recommending that I read the book. I loved it! Watched the first episode of the series and... woof. Pretty bad so far.
