It’s the little things:

The way ANY doll is invariably creepy as hell. Watching our beloved senior citizens completely freeze in place as they realize the’ve walked into the background of a live shot. The “Over the Moon” fake enthusiasm from patrons that had clearly higher hopes for the appraisal.

And the 1/100 big ones that are really worth a fortune and genuinely shock the owner.

I post up with a whiskey like it’s March Madness. I guess it is for me at this point.

I like the ones where the patron thinks they've brought in something super valuable...like a Ming Dynasty Vase they said was passed down from their grandfather and the appraiser says yes, you'll be happy to know, this was made in China...but in 1940.

I would appraise it at $19.95...minus shipping.

And then conversally, the guy who says...hey, I have this old chair...waddythink?

And the appraiser says, yeah that's an 18th century Queen Ann chair from Colonial days.

That goes for about $200,000.

In fact, Thomas Jefferson might've sat in that chair while he wrote the Declaration of Independence because his initials are inscribed on the bottom leg right next to where it says "my lucky Declaration of Independence chair."

If you don’t love Antiques Roadshow, there’s something wrong with you.

I love The Great British Bake Show.

Makes me so damn hungry and it is just a bunch of nice Brits competing.

It is just all around enjoyable.

My favorite moment that seemed very genuine was from a lady that brought in an Alexander Calder (great modern sculptor) ornament that looked like something he did with coat hangers in 20mins at a party.

Can’t find vid but it was the only million dollar one I’ve seen.

Oh hell yeah. That one airs too early to drink, but it’s one of the food shows that I self-torture with.

The Navajo blanket is my favorite item/moment. Appraised for $350,000 to $500,000.

I don't believe anyone brings anything of real value to those shows without first knowing what it's worth.

Every once in a while, you get a genuine surprise but for the most part everybody knows what they have and they're just there for validation and to get on the tube.

The best appraisals are those that dissapoint people who believe they actually have something that matters.

I have the last season's cookbook (SO got it for me for Christmas). Until shite hit the fan, the plan was to do a cake a month. It's great.

I also love that they're so kind to each other and rush to help each other even in the midst of competition. shite ain't happening here.
