I was in the original ticket line for each of the first 3. Yes, the quality was outstanding. The first one especially (even back then there was a bit of grumbling about the next two OT being not as great as the first). But you gotta get into the context. The first Star Wars was ground breaking on so many levels. It’s uniqueness was unmatched. And it was entertaining as hell. It was supposed to entertain. They said that was the whole purpose in making it, and they succeeded beyond anybody’s wildest dreams. So a legend was born, As were expectations for any future films... fast forward to now, and the expectations of new generations of critic fans have grown beyond the legend’s ability to deliver. Thus the whining and complaining of the impossible to please. Me, who has been there since the beginning, and people like me... we just expect the movies to entertain us. And so...no disappointment.

I have heard it was pretty good, by all my SW nerd buds. They say at WORST, it is a bit too safe. But it is the 100% fan service that we clamored for.

The leftover funk from TLJ just damages it in the mind of all the real die hards.

Most of the bashing it got on Twitter was because SJW's hated:

1) JJ undid THEIR movie
2) They wanted butt stuff with Poe and Finn
3) "Just a background Kiss?????" They wanted a close up of the lezzies scissoring on the console while listening to Ani DiFranco

That's what I have pieced together, at least.
