It was the best star wars movie ever and a shoe in for several oscars.

It exceeded my low expectations after I watched The Last Jedi. I still didn’t like how the whole trilogy came together. They were kind of screwed by the poor story development of The Last Jedi.

It was fitting in that the majority of the films in the SAG-uh were dogshit, so it was fitting that the finale was as well

All 9 of these movies were not supposed to be Oscar level. Just entertaining, kind of like the olde serial features that used to play in the movies back in the day. They were entertaining. If you weren’t entertained, I’d say that it was your problem. Or a problem with some unrealistic expectations.

Ignore plot and all screw ups they tried to fix and the action scenes were decent enough

A New Hope won Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Production Design, Score, Editing, and Costume plus a special achievement award. It was nominated for 10 Oscars total including BP and won more Oscars than other film that night.
Empire won Best Sound and was nominated for two others.
Return of the Jedi won a special achievement award and was nominated for 4 Oscars.
The prequels and sequels account for 14 nominations.
I’d say that’s pretty consistent Oscar level.

You're gonna get downvoted into Bolivian ( ), and so will I, but you’re right it was pretty good IMO. It’s just become cool now to basically hate all things Star Wars by the cool SW nerd figs.

Hating SW was made easy when those @ Disney lied to Lucas when they promised to keep his characters and stories canon.
Same thing that happened to SW happened to Star Trek and Game of Thrones. But anyone who refers to fans as 'nerd figs ', isn't interested in hearing such things explained.

Oh, like everyone hated Rogue One and Mandalorian?
I agree that some of this board’s hatred of TFA is retroactive but don’t pretend that TLJ are ROS are good.

This shite here. People liked TFA when it first came out, seeing it as a great potential launching point. In hindsight, people started to see that it was more than a little too similar to ANH, but were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt if future installments managed to build on what TFA setup and answer some of the "plot holes".
TLJ basically abandoned everything TFA and all other Star Wars movies set up and shitte all over everything and everyone. There was no where to go from it. It never should have been made. It was a complete failure of a story. TLJ made TFA worse and essentially sabotaged any chance for ROS to be any good.
The Mandalorian and Rogue One are universally praised, with very few posters not 100% sold on them.
If I were in charge of Star Wars, I would hit the reset button on TLJ and ROS and write a new episode 8 and 9 based om what 7 set up while salvaging as much existing footage as possible to cut down on reshoots. I bet if Disney did something like that, "caved" to fans with their "unreasonable expectations", they would be rewarded with massive success and improved brand perception much like Paramount with Sonic: The Hedgehog when they listened to fans and redesigned the title character. The movie ended up being a substantial commercial success.
