Good selection for a July 4th movie. Really gives you an idea of what went into the planning of that mission. Not to mention the sacrifice those people made while carrying it out. The aircraft carrier scenes were my favorite part. All of those planes lifting off was a cool cinematic experience.

Catching a glimpse into that part of the past reminds me of how good we have it today.

God Bless America!

I watched it a few days ago myself. Very good movie - and gives the Chinese people real credit for saving many of the airmen's lives at tremendous cost to themselves.

If only Doolittle had let Gen Chennault know they were coming, the Flying Tigers had airfields many could have landed safely at.

They had airfields available to receive them, but because the TF might have been sighted by a Japanese picket ship they were launched 10 hours early and thus could not reach the airfields as planned.

The Tigers airfields were closer to the coast. Doolittle planned to overfly Chennaults fields because the two of them didn’t get along. Didn’t want to share credit. The 10hours had nothing to do with that part of it, just that the bombers couldn’t reach their original strips as planned
