It’s almost a perfect movie. However:
Ilsa calls Sam ‘boy” which is cringy.
Rick explains sacrifice to Ilsa like it’s a new concept for her at the end. Even though it’s the only thing she’s been asking for the entire movie.
Rick unnecessarily cucks Victor at the end. “You may not now, but you might one day…” is some serious game.
Bonus question: did Rick and Ilsa have sex the night they reconciled? I think they did because the scene ends with a fade-out which was typically how directors suggested “sex to follow.” A lot of people think they didn’t.
Ilsa calls Sam ‘boy” which is cringy.

Ric definitely threw her a goodbye hump! It's Ingrid Friggin Bergman at her absolute hottest!

i like that Sam and Rick’s relationship was obviously more than valet/boss, its clear that they like and respect one another, and Sam genuinely tries to get Rick out of town and away from Ilsa because he knows how badly she hurt him
quote:Victor had already cucked himself by that point

also you may have noticed (as i assume he did) that despite him telling her “i love you” multiple times during the film, she never once said it back - he knew he was in a one-sided marriage and he didn’t care
quote:hard to say, it wasnt nearly as obvious as Sam Spade & Brigid O’Shaunessy in Maltese Falcon, and the fact that both were immaculately dressed after the fade out (Rick’s jacket is even still buttoned!) leads me to believe it wasn’t Curtiz’s intention that the audience should assume they did the horizontal bop - and yet, they had the perfect opportunity
