Is Karl Pilkington real?

After watching Idiot Abroad, Derek, the old Ricky Gervais XFM podcasts, Karl HAS to be a real person. I just love watching him and Ricky together...you can tell Ricky effs with him alot in real life. What do you guys think?
Also, if you guys haven't seen this, it is probably the funniest videos I've seen and a reason why I think Karl has to be a real person.

I mean of course he's real, right? What would you think if he wasn't real? Like that? I mean he's out there for your entertainment doing things no one has done. Or maybe even should do. Running around out all over there. But he's doing them, yeah. And imagine if he wasn't real for a second and you'll see, listen here for a second, you'll see that he has to be real. And it's interesting you know. It's interesting what he does and that he does it.

Oh yeah. At this point I think he's become more self aware, and he plays his eccentricities up a bit for his shows. But he's definitely legit. He's totally a manky, round headed twat, and it's hilarious. The early days with the podcast/radio show or whatever it was was probably a little more genuine.

Yeah, it is amazing how anyone would put up with Karl’s bullshite long enough to date him in the first place, nevertheless for years on end.
