I have converted my 10 year old son to team Cobra Kai!

He loves the karate kid movies I showed him growing up and but I was always team Cobra Kai. He loves the new series and is a big Hawk fan. He told me he has had enough of Daniel Larusso and he is officially team sweep the leg. It was a proud moment as a father when he told me that. Now we can’t wait for season 3 to come out.

I didnt have to create or bump a KK thread to talk about it..
Hawk is an interesting character. Cobra Kai is the most important thing in his life. And to be fair, its true. Since he has joined, his life has changed for the better. But he doesn't see HE made it happen.
Kreese has never made fun of his appearance or spoken down to him. Same thing with stingray, whereas everyone else always has.
Hawk will be the most loyal student Kreese has ever had..and since he was probably a year away from being a school shooter anyways, will be a dangerous combination.

I dont think Kreese lives past season 3. He's the only one going into the season with a lot going for him.
And since the showrunners said there will be 3 deaths in season 3..im banking on Kreese, johnnys step dad and either Daniels mom or Robbys mom. Thats a safe bet lol.
Drastic bet is Robby dies cause Chozen decides to take revenge. We also lose Samantha larusso and Amanda in the attack. We take a dark turn..but i joke.
I know Daniel and Chozen have been cool for years because of what daniel said about the knife at the Dinner with Kyler over in s1.

I really liked the Hawk character initially. But man they swung the pendulum him SO frickING FAR in the opposite direction it ruined the character for me. He’s a caricature now and doesn’t make much sense to me. His turn to heel felt super rushed IMO. If they’d tons down and dial him back some he could be great because of his history. I agree that he will be all in with Kreese though.

If the episodes were averaging 45 minutes instead of 25 it would probably be easier to grow the character in a better/organic way. But, to begin with its too much story to share between these iconic characters to have a fair share everywhere lol even if its just rehashing story from 30 years ago, thats fun to watch.
How I am buying it is he is jumping in head first. He seems to show some signs of an extremist. He has to have his front always up, from his personal experiences people always try to tear down what you have..and he loves and buys into cobra kai like its a cult. He wants to always defend it and protect it. Its his identity and more importantly, his new face that defines him. I dont think Hawk is a "Pussy", as he does fight. He doesn't run away from a conflict or a problem. He just has a lot of built up anger, confusion, pain and vulnerability that he doesn't know how to balance..which in turn, turns him into a bully with lack of proper guidance.

If Kreese hadn't been there he would obviously be on a better track, or kicked out the dojo. Hawks mom has no answers..i don't know where his dad is, but Kreese is there. I hope they have some good conflict for him in s3 and hope that Demetri moves past the bitching and complaining about everything. I can see Moon maybe starting something with Demetri, as they have spent a lot of time together and he always makes her laugh..which will further damage the Hawk/Demetri friendship.
