It's pretty a pretty fricking amazing acting job by Elizabeth Moss. Also the kid actors/actresses are top notch. Almost the entire cast, really.

While I don't agree with all the sentiments ITT, the first season is fantastic, the second season is pretty good, and the third season is OK up to this point, but we are on episode 10 and hoping for a wild ending.

The ONLY problem I have with the show is the writing at times. There are times when it seems like June is getting special treatment from the aunts, and/or things break exactly right for her to not go up on the wall. I know they can't kill her, but I wish they'd tone her actions down a bit. Sometimes it's like they forget they are in a totalitarian society.

I don't mind the slow burn, because it makes the payoff that much better.

This show is not breaking bad or mad men, but I do think it's an excellent TV show.

Just the visuals of this series alone are shite.

Every damn day is grey and overcast even when the sun is out.

They use unnecessary shaky camera work in every other scene, especially the flashbacks.

They will do random zoom in on character faces for no discernible reasons.

They use odd camera angles that have no purpose or reason.

That’s just the visual aspect.

Elisabeth Moss’s incessant mumbling is ridiculous. She always has that “I just caught a whiff of someone’s poot in my cubicle” face going.

Her character is in no way redeemable or relatable at all.

I got to about 3rd or 4th episode of season 2 and despite the book being clear that whatever the party is called is basically an environmentalist cult, they vaguely mention it in the series and make it seem like they only want some bizarre cuckquean society because 95% of women have rotten wombs or something.

Not sure who is the shepherd of this project like Favreau was for The Mandalorian but either they are young and new and don’t know any better or old and don’t care as long as that direct deposit hits every 2 weeks.

Well, she had her daughter forcibly removed from her arms and then was forced into submission, rape, unwanted pregnancy, followed by someone claiming her child as their own in front of her face. I'm not sure how friendly your face would be in that situation. Not sure what you mean about the mumbling.

To you. She's not relatable to me either, but I can still try to put myself into her situation and gauge her actions. Even doing this, I find some of her actions to be questionable, considering she has first hand account of hangings weekly. In terms of her character being redeemable, I at least semi-agree. She seems to be at least be resourceful when it comes to other people and when she can't immediately get her way (like with Commander Lawrence), she tries to verbally attack people for their misgivings. Even with this, I still can't say that I'd do any different or even be alive this far into it.

I genuinely don't know what you're referring to here. I read the book 4 days ago and while the show isn't exactly true to the source material, the book is much of the same in terms of why Gilead is formed. Some of the lines are word for word the same, just split up between episodes.

There is a massive difference in being mopey and sad and looking like you caught a whiff of arse winds. She had that same look in the flashbacks. Her narrations about the past are always mumbles. Sounds like she is slightly hungover trying to read her lines in the morning trying not to wake up a toddler.

She was a terrible person before the reckoning or whatever the hell they call the takeover. I don’t think they had to make their protagonist a perfect little angel, but showing me that she was a shitty person prior to this all completely undermines any sympathy she would gain from me.

Like I said, I’m midway through season 2 and they have casually mentioned the environmental angle in a conversation like 3 times. The rest of it makes them seem like some weird anti gay, anti minority cuckqueen society. That’s not what they were in the books. They were old earth radical Christian environmentalists.
