quote:
From a screenplay by Shia LaBeouf, based on his own experiences, award-winning filmmaker Alma Har'el (Bombay Beach, LoveTrue) brings to life a young actor's stormy childhood and early adult years as he struggles to reconcile with his father and deal with his mental health. Fictionalizing his ascent to stardom, and subsequent crash-landing into rehab and recovery, Har'el casts Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) and Lucas Hedges (Boy Erased, Manchester by the Sea) as Otis Lort, navigating different stages in a frenetic career. LaBeouf takes on the therapeutic challenge of playing a version of his own father, an ex-rodeo clown and a felon. Dancer-singer FKA twigs makes her feature-film debut, playing neighbor and kindred spirit to the younger Otis in their garden-court motel home. Har'el's feature narrative debut is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between filmmaker and subject, exploring art as medicine and imagination as hope through the life and times of a talented, traumatized performer who dares to go in search of himself.

I like Shia so i'll give it a watch. This could be a big year for him if this and The Peanut Butter Falcon work out.

Love me some Shia. Don't even care about his off screen antics either. His interview talking about how he got too drunk and slapped some ladies arse was hilarious.

apparently it's really really good and when you view it in the context of the piece being the culmination of his therapy I think it will be even better

Watched this tonight on Prime. Really good. Makes you kind of understand why Shia went off the deep end for a few years. If even half of this depiction was accurate, his dad was a real damaged dude who took his problems out on his kid.

Shias had a good run the past few years with American Honey, Peanut Butter Falcon, and sounds like now Honey Boy

Watched it tonight, best movie I’ve seen in a long while. It really hit home on a few subjects.

Should have been up for Best Picture last year over Irishman and Once Upon a Time
Glad Shia is making his comeback. I grew up when Even Stevens was airing on Disney, watched it every day after school. Weird and sad to think about how chaotic his life was off that set
