Exactly. But what is the "event" and the larger context of why this event was happening? Why were the various people fleeing for safety from the painfully near-generic threat?

God, that was terrible.

I think Nolan set out to do what he intended...I expected more.

The Spitfires would've eaten those Me 110s for lunch...and would turn-n-burn the 109s out of the sky.

And stupefied the Stukas.

She's holding this movie to the impossibly high standard set by Pearl Harbor. Dunkirk didn't provide the patriotism boner that good war movies do.
