That lying crack whore probably made up the story so the one good person she knows would be stuck taking care of her kid after she dies of aids.
Except she wouldn't have to. Forrest loved her his whole life, unconditionally. He would have taken care of her kid regardless.

She dropped it on purpose. We know this because of her opening dialog with her grandchildren, and what she tells each kid. She's describing the end of the movie.
This is the strongest argument in favor of her dropping it on purpose, IMO, and most arguments I hear never reference it. That being said, I find that to be another stretch but it's a far more convincing argument than the blind speculation typically offered in which conclusions are drawn against the context of the film and final scene itself.

Definitely not his son. Despite what others have said in the thread, I think that Forrest was just as important to Jenny as she was to him. Growing up, Forrest was the only genuinely kind person she interacted with, for a while the only source of security in her hellish life. It makes sense to me that if she got pregnant from some random drugged-out encounter, which she probably didn't even remember, that she would name her son after the one man who loved her for who she truly was. In her newborn son she saw the innocence and simplicity of life that she once sought out from Forrest Sr. After she contracted AIDS, Forrest Jr. was the only thing that truly mattered to her, and Forrest being one of if not the most kind, loving, world-traveled, and genuinely good-hearted man on the planet, what better option did Jenny have?
Sure for most of her adult life she was a selfish crack-whore, but she came from a vile molesting household, and the 60's being the 60's I can't really blame her for jumping into the deep end of drugs. In the end, she knew little Forrest would have the best chance of succeeding in the care of Forrest Forrest Gump and his vast wealth, though he would have most likely reared Jenny's child regardless of the patronage.
As for Dottie and Kit, I'm on the Dottie/Droppie side of the argument. Dottie is the true alpha of the movie. She's the elder daughter, married to a decorated soldier, the maternal figure of the team, and the best player in the League. Kit is the runt of her group wherever she goes with a serious napoleon complex who has lived in her big sister's shadow her entire life. Kit's brash demeanor is a constant cry for attention, and her competitiveness is her trying to prove herself equal to Dottie. Dottie was the true wheat, Kit the chaff. Hell, Kit only got into the league because Dottie agreed to go, and Dottie only agreed to go so Kit could get a chance. Though Kit hated it, having Dottie around fueled her anger and her drive to better her perfect sister. Once Bob got back from the war and Kit was transferred, Dottie had no real reason to finish, save for her love for the team. The game itself didn't matter to her anymore; So when Kit finally had her chance to prove herself worthy of her sister, Dottie (at least subconsciously)dropped the ball. Dottie goes on to kick life's arse, Kit gets to finally be in the spotlight.

I don't think she dropped it on purpose, she was too much of a hard arse when it counted, and played every second of the game 100%, the game was in her blood, and we're supposed to think that her whole philosophy changed with one hit? never. I think that they just wanted to show that the underdog can get it done when determined enough. I think the reason that she acts like it wasn't a big deal in her life with her daughter at the beginning of the movie is a defense mechanism, if she deems it to have little significance then dropping the ball doesn't weigh as heavily on her conscience.

It's a known fact that Forrest was impotent, so no I don't buy that.
I'm sure this was covered, but he wasn't impotent he was a pre-mature ejaculator.
Hence it would actually increase the chances of being the father since they didn't use a condom.

Mann was alive, it was the doc that was dead. Mann isn't officially dead until he walks into the corn.
