People are still clamoring for Avatar sequels? Outside of people talking about how much money it made, I don't recall it being story-wise relevant or hyped since 2010.

I don’t think anyone is clamoring for them so much as studios will do whatever James Cameron wants

Avatar is huge, internationally. The sequels will do huge numbers especially in asia. It remains to be seen how it will do here in the states.

And then James Cameron buggered off to do whatever the hell it is James Cameron does when he is is not directing the next highest grossing movie of all-time. Avatar 2 has finished filming. It has a shite ton of post production work.

The first one wrapped up filming a month after The Dark Knight finished. The Dark Knight was released July 2008. Avatar was released December 2009.

Being on Disney Plus and having a presence at Disney has kept them in the subconscious. Remember most people thought the first Avatar would flop, maybe make it’s budget back at most. People said Disney was crazy for trying to make a cinematic universe out of Marvel characters when they didn’t have the rights to by far the three biggest IPs at the time (Spiderman, X-Men, and Fantastic Four). Will Avatar 2 be as big a success as the first? No. Not even close. If it is HALF has successful at the box office as the first, that’s over $1.3 billion. Assuming $400 million in production + marketing, Disney taking their usual 55% on BO receipts and you’re looking at net profits of $300 million before you factor in any marketing tie-ins or merch.

Considering Disney built an entire Avatar world section at one of the Disneyworld parks, they're going to milk that movie franchise for as many sequels as they can get

James Cameron doesn't do what James Cameron does for James Cameron. James Cameron does what James Cameron does because James Cameron is James Cameron!

James Cameron does. And his business manager, agent, plus all the voice actors.

Oh - you meant, "film goers"? Yeah, nobody wants that.
