It seems the doc was equally about social media and the trial itself. And it was absolutely biased in her favor. For every big moment where she looked terrible, they made excuses for her. And they blamed the verdict on social media with zero proof.
Cliffs:
1) Amber shits on his bed.
Netflix: Nah. It was the tiny dog.
2) Amber lied about donating all of her divorce settlement. ($7 mil)
Netflix: Nah. “Pledge” and “Donate” are used interchangeably all the time.
3) Amber’s lawyer lied about the makeup she used to cover up her bruises
Netflix: Nah. It was just a prop. Ignore that the lawyer said it was the exact one she used.
4) Amber’s lawyer calls a glass of wine Depp pours a “mega pint” and Depp laughs.
Netflix: Depp used the term first in the UK. See how he’s tricking everyone!
And a large portion of the documentary covered the YouTube live coverage and the TikTok memes of Amber. Very little of it was on her side. And they blame that for the verdict rather than admitting that maybe, just maybe, she came across as psychotic to the public and the Jury saw the same thing. Netflix completely ignored how bad of a witness she was. From the lies to the odd behavior to the inability to actually shed a tear when she was acting stressed and upset. And they never even mention some of the best memes which I assume is to avoid admitting that many of them are actually funny: The bee sting and the jar of cocaine never made it on the doc.
