Yep...

I own that.

One of the most re-watchable movies of all-time. The Count of Monte Cristo reboot with Caviezel.

Didn't realize it contained the young superman until the most recent rewatch.

There's no way you've seen more than a dozen films in your lifetime then.

It's personal option, not objective fact. I know there are worse movies.

That's my third all time favorite book. I hated the movie. Majorly disappointing

The Dune adaptation with Kyle McLachlan is an objectively worse adaptation imo.

Also, consider how shitty Ender's Game was.

It's definitely a lot different than the book. But the movie isn't bad.

ETA: Mercedes doesn't fare as well in the book.

Well they had to truncate it for obvious reasons...but because they do...the movie flies with awesome scene after awesome scene.

Perhaps you like the Depardieu version but that's like 8 hours long.

All book to movie adaptions have to cut out storylines unless it's a long mini-series. Your complaint is not unique to Caviezel's movie...but its an awesome movie regardless of not being faithful to the source material.

I really wish HBO or Netflix would start a miniseries called Classics or Adaptations or Moving Pictures or something like that and just take a different book and adapt it each season. They have the perfect model set up to do long brilliant books justice.

I'd love that.

Definitely not a happy ending like in the movie. Edmund doesn't want her. She abandons her fortune (upon learning about frickstick's backstabbing) and lives out the remainder of her life poor and alone.
