Why are the animated movies head and shoulders better than the garbage released on the big screen? Better storylines, better action, and sad to say, better acting.

Easy answer would be the talent working on them is far better. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are Joker and Batman.

I would love to see Death in the Family with a Under the Red Hood sequel on the big screen.

This recent DCEU attempt is the embodiment of the saying "a camel is a horse by committee."

The animated movies are made by directors and writers and actors and producers who care about and honor the source material while professionally making movies that are targeted at their audience and aware of their established IPs.

The DC cinematic universe is produced by a committee of studio heads who don't give the least amount of frick about their IPs and directed and written by people who don't understand the source material and then acted out by actors who also don't understand the source material or give a shite about the overall project. There are some exceptions, but for the most part this is why.

I'm hard pressed to find a voice actor more iconic and in touch with his fanbase than Mark Hamil in his role as Joker. And Kevin Conroy is phenomenal as Batman.

Growing up I was a super obxnious fan boy about 3 properties more than anything else:

Batman
Star Wars
DragonBall Z

In that order.

Star Wars and DBZ were arse raped to death with their most recent iterations.

At least Nolan made a competent set of Batman movies.

But I'd really like to see DC put together a Batman universe that's very tech and detective heavy. Just Batman being the world's greatest detective in Gotham. That's what Batman is.

I watched an interview with Conroy where he speaks about how seriously he takes the role and his responsibility to the fans. If he feels anything isn’t authentic to the character, he feels the fans think the same and works to change either the line or delivery.

I would say that care goes into it plus there is about a 30 year track record of working with the material.

From Batman TAS in the early 90s to to Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and various movies they’ve done, most have been of very high quality.

There are a few bastard stepchildren like Braniac Attacks but by far the shows and films tend to attract great voice talent and try to adapt the material as appropriately as possible given various limitations (continuity lockout, characters not part of the animated universe, “Bat Embargo”, etc).

You don't like DBZ Super?

Or don't like the principle of Power Crawl?
