quote:
The difference between Barry and 99% of the other heroes is that he didn't have a tragedy guiding or forcing him into being a hero (originally). He was a police scientist helping people the best way that he knew how. Becoming the Flash just gave him an extension to his way of life.
Superman grew up with no memory of his people and had an excellent upbringing on a farm with Jonathan and Martha Kent and they taught him and raised him so well that he chose to use his god like powers for pure good.
The Flash and Superman had nearly the same upbringings.
quote:
For a new character, he quickly built one of the largest extended families in the DCU. He had his parents, his girlfriend, Iris' brother and wife and their son Wally, Iris' parents, Hal Jordan, Ralph and Sue Dibny, Albert Desmond... Barry was the hero with the most normal civilian life, with a girlfriend/wife and plenty of family and friends.
Superman had nowhere near that big of the family like Flash had and that still had and still has no effect on his conscience and pure of heart at all.
quote:
But even with that, Barry was always the friend you could count on. As they had Batman say in a comic, "Barry is the kind of man that I would've hoped to become if my parents hadn't been murdered."
But even then, there's a reason why Batman always considered Superman his brother and best friend first and foremost out of anybody in the DC Universe and they always had each others backs to the point of constructive criticism and reminding him who he really is.

Is this the correct spot to talk about how fricking atrocious Arrow has gotten? A complete travesty what has happened to that show.

This season is cheesy but they acknowledge that earlier on. Most of the actors are pretty good and the kid Grant does a good job.
The planning ahead, dropping clues, and formula is really well done.

Kill me, but the flash is the closest thing to smallville as far as comic book tv series go imo

Actually, it's better than smallville because you know it's the actual hero in his actual uniform taking his heroics public, not just hiding and sneaking around in a t-shirt and jeans.

True. Can’t replace the feeling of anticipation I got as a kid waiting for Clark to launch into the air and fly for the first time though.
