I've only read a part of the book and had to stop.
A lot of people I respect like it but I found it to be one of the most pretentious, overrated books I've ever read. The book is a series of short stories that happen over hundreds of years and something in the previous story can be seen in the current story if you look hard enough. And all the stories are written in different literary styles. I enjoyed about half of them but the whole thing felt artificial and was more about the author saying "See how clever I am" than actually writing something that worked well.
