EW article about the film. For anyone still confused which universe it's a part of

I guess they are making a small scale grounded story, but I don't love just how much the love interest is involved here.

The animated films are in the mainline DCU if designated as such. This has been the set up since Gunn took over.
Reeves has his movie and Penguin series as separate under elseworlds

There's the DCAU, which is the animated films that don't appear to have ever slowed down. By far the most consistently awesome films they've been putting out.
Then there's Reeves' Batman universe, which they should have scrapped.
Then there's Gunn's universe, which does include some animated projects.
