I remember Chappaquiddick like it was yesterday but this movie brought back a lot of memories of that time.

Anyone else watched it yet?

IMHO they did a good job. Based upon Joey Gargan's recollection and interviews with many others ... it told the tale as many of us suspected and remember it to be with some archival footage and interviews that added to the story line.

It's worth seeing.

I am surprised at how few young people know the story of Ted Kennedy at Chappaquiddick.

What is even more amazing to me is that Hollywood allowed this movie to be made and that the movie makers found a distributor. A little research shows that "some very powerful people" tried to stop it.

It was superbly acted by Jason Clarke. Kate Mira does an excellent job in her limited role and the guy that plays Joey Gargan was super too. Ed Helms.

The movie was good. Crazy timing for the Moon landing to happen in the middle of it, which pretty much dwarfed the story. I thought Kate Mira was alright, I'm not really impressed with her as an actress at all.

The life of Teddy Kennedy would make an interesting HBO or Netflix series.

Growing up in the shadow of his far more talented brothers. His sister Rosemary being lobotomized by the family (which left her unable to walk or talk). Becoming the duly appointed heir to the Kennedy political machine. Chappaquiddick. Stopping Nixon's health care plan (mostly out of a desire for very minor changes that would allow him to affix his name to the bill). His blood feud with Jimmy Carter (where Carter famously declared to the press that he would whip Teddy's arse... and backed it up). The sex scandals. The drinking scandals. The sex scandals involving drinking.

He's a fascinatingly unwholesome fellow.

Not crazy at all. John F. Kennedy demanded that America put a man on the moon in order to distract the public from his little brother's murderous ways.

Wake up sheeple.

Yeah ... everyone remembers where they were for the moon landing.

A lot of people, especially in the South, were unaware of Cappaquiddick until it was over really. I remember watching Teddy give his speech that night on TV, but it was over a done with in about a week.

Wasn’t until a few months later when it really caught wind in the South. People down here were outraged for the girl but Northeasterners pretty much told us to stfu.

A lot of stuff was happening back then in the same time frame. Not just Apollo but Vietnam Tet, homegrown terrorist attacks, stock market issues and devaluation of the dollar, taking us off the gold standard.

Crazy times.

He also colluded with Yuri Andropov to subvert the 1984 U.S. presidential election.

He was a real nasty piece of work.

I took particular pleasure out of him using all his political power to stop a wind farm off the shore from his summer get away while championing alternative energy.

As a moderate I tend to distrust the extremes of either political party but the Kennedy family is just scum.

I don't know all that much about the Kennedys but from what I've heard John and Robert were the only ones that weren't total assholes.
