Excellent cinematography and performance by the lead actress.

I didn’t know the story or have any expectations going in so it was compelling to me. It takes place in little five points of New York City a few decades after Gangs of New York. Not surprised it scored a 90+ on rotten tomatoes. Great period piece based on a true story.

a lot of people were worried this was going to be woke because it was about immigrants.

this is the same studio that did Shift (heavily pro-family and blatantly Christian) and Sound of Freedom.

They don't make awful movies. Might not agree with everything (Chosen) but they do quality.

I saw it, it was good.

It needed more God, she was a sister.

The quote at her shrine is: “God has done it all: I have only been a spectator of God’s work.”

Also, should’ve also done when she went to NOLA. The way she acquired the building that became her orphanage is a cool story.

Haven't seen it but that's the criticism I've read.

Instead of being a Holy devout Catholic which drives her works.

She's apparently just a social justice warrior that just happens to wear a habit.

There was a lot to fit in story wise, so I wonder if they made the assumption the viewers would already have that foundation in mind.

I did find it interesting that her condition from near drowning led to her short life expectancy and thus her ambition. Would all of her work not have been so successful without the suffering and curse from her childhood disease? Instead of blaming God she worked with it, similar to the other obedience orders she received; they ended up helping her. God’s providence is indeed beyond our small minds.

If the M/TV Board had a tagline, this would be it.
