I remember when this came out thinking how much weight Akroyd had gained. If only I waited a few more years. This wasn't a horrible movie. It definitely missed Belushi but still had great music. If you had to replace Jake, Goodman was a good choice. The kid was a drag on the story, however.

One of my buddies dragged me off to see this in theaters. Awful movie.

The jam session at the end was the only good part of this movie...and Paul Shaffer tried hard to ruin that.

If there had never been a Blues Brothers, Blues Brothers 2000 would be a good movie. However, it pales in comparison to the original.

This is the best way to describe it. Certainly would have been good on its own without a benchmark to set against. Although asking the movie board to evaluate film with a little perspective is like trying to teach a kitchen chair how to perform open heart surgery.

for what it was, it was good. i enjoyed it personally.

it is not even remotely close to the origional.

Blues Brothers is my Fav film of all time. it missed Belushi and Cab for sure, but the fact they had so many of the origional cast memebers back for the sequel was awesome.

if anything, BB2000 made me lose respect for Belushi's brother for bitching cause he wasnt cast in it at all.

I refuse to watch this movie on the same philosophical grounds that I refuse to watch the 3 Stooges movie. Certain things are sacred. Do a biopic about the The Three Stooges, I'm in, but not that piece of crap.

Jim got pissed off and bitched to anyone who would listen to him, that he should have been cast instead of goodman....which i felt was spot on.

I believe a large portion of the movies take was donated to music related charities as well, but I can;t remember where I read it.

But how would they incorporate his resemblance to John without making him a third brother they knew nothing about? I guess they could say he was adopted while the others were left in the orphanage.

It wasn't awful, it just felt like they were trying too hard. Blues Brothers had cameos from great musicians that worked fantastically. 2000 had cameos from every musician in the world it seemed like. I thought Goodman and Akryoid had quality performances. Music was great. But like I said, it just felt like they were trying too hard.

One of the Russians said that he was going to find Elwood and drink vodka from his skull. Is that where he got the idea for this?
