I don't understand the confusion in this thread, the premise of this movie is very clearly laid out all over the internet and through interviews with those involved. It's a direct sequel to Prometheus, a prequel to Alien and has both Fassbender and Rapace reprising their Prometheus roles. It is not a reboot.

For what it's worth, the early screening of 15 minutes of footage was described by several people as "utterly terrifying".

Hell, just read the plot synopsis that's been available for like a year:

quote:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant find what they believe to be an uncharted paradise. What the crew discover is a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.[4]

They apparently stretch that R rating to the limit based on what I've read. It's also supposed to be a true horror movie as opposed to every Alien movie since the original.

Shown about 10 minutes of footage, plus the upcoming new trailer, “Alien: Covenant” horrified. It was as though Ridley Scott took issue with the mixed reviews of “Prometheus” and was coming back hard with a vengeance. ‘Covenant’ footage looked like a fan’s wet dream: a disturbing picture, with scares, gores and guts that appeared to be hard-R terrifying.

It appears Scott has returned the franchise to its roots: A genuinely terrifying and suspenseful horror flick that will make your skin crawl.

Alien 3 was really the only other one that tried to be horror.

That is a pretty extreme decision to make based on a trailer. You could at least wait until reviews start pouring in

It looks like an Alien/Aliens mashup. I've already seen both movies countless times. In fact Aliens is probably in my top 5 all time science fiction movies.

If you reread my post I said "I hope they are holding back a lot of the plot". Meaning that if another trailer comes along and shows a bit more of a unique story then I will consider spending $10 on it.

The title of this thread is "Alien: Covenant trailer", not "Alien:covnant interviews and internet research about said movie".

I saw a trailer and described my reaction to said trailer.

Sounds like we got some fanboys on here defending all things Aliens.

And for what it's worth, I liked Prometheus.

I mean, the trailer LITERALLY has a character from Prometheus in it

I'm confused. I must not be explaining myself well enough.

If you have the same plot and the same scares withe the same baddies, then even though you have different protagonist it doesn't make it an original movie.

You could put characters from "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" in the trailer with the same action and I would say "That looks like an Alien/Aliens mashup".

That would make sense since they have the same director.

I'm sure you can look up the plot synopsis online. You do know the whole objectve of a trailer is to advertise the movie while minimizing plot details?

This guy doesn't realize trailers aren't everything when it comes to determining a movies potential.

Then it failed. End. Of. Story.

Reread the thread. I'm like the 3rd dude to say this. Get over it.

Again, this is entitled "Alien:covenant trailer" and not "Alien:covenant movie review".

Trailer sucks. You get over it as well.

I like how you cut out the part about minimizing plot details.

You're not very smart, are you?

This thread is open to discussion about all aspects of the film. The title doesn't dictacte what has to be discussed.

Sorry you're too retarded to base your decisions solely on trailers.

Amirite?
