Ahead of Yellowstone this weekend

I decided to give Sheridan’s Sicario, HoHW, and Wind River a rewatch. (I haven’t gotten around to a second viewing of Day of the Soldado yet and I have zero desire to watch Those Who Wish Me Dead, sadly.)
HoHW remains my favorite movie of the last decade. It’s not a perfect movie, small faults here and there, but the dialogue (whether you have a brother or best friend) remains the best back and forth banter I can ever remember and more than makes up for its few shortcomings, errors. Also, Ben Foster is fricking phenomenal. 9.6
Sicario is also so damn good. BDT is haunting, the film is haunting and there are scenes that you just can’t get out of your head. If it had ended w/ no sequel, I wouldn’t care. 9
Wind River is the one that changed my opinion the most (and the reason for my post). I once thought it was good. Now I think it’s great. Olsen and Renner were better than I remembered, Sheridan as a first time director isn’t so bad, and I forgot how impactful the shootout scene was. 8.9
I'd love to take a Taylor Sheridan writing dialogue course if it exists. And the backdrops of all three of these movies are incredible.
Here’s to the goofiness and soap opera vibe that is Yellowstone. I’m looking forward to Sunday. But really, hats off to three amazing movies, whichever may be your favorite, they are all wonderful.
