Maybe. I think all of the movies except The Firm are kind of hokey. At the same time, the books are pretty basic with no depth to them. They're easy reads that are good at building suspense. Nothing wrong with that of course.

I did like the movie version of The Client better than the book, but I think that's the only one I liked better than the book. I haven't read any of them in a while though, and The Firm is the only movie I've watched recently.

I can certainly see why someone who hasn't seen the movie in a long time would think this but McConaughey states that it's 1995 while cross-examining the chief physician of Whitfield.

Also, the sheriff department's 2 door tahoes are mid-90's models.
