Thank you for mentioning this. Boba Fett didn't do shite...ever. Yet, he's insanely popular and a fan favorite. It makes no sense. Cool armor? Check. Quiet and brooding? Check. Accomplish anything else? Well, I guess he was good at following people. In his only combat sequence Luke cuts his blaster in half and Han accidentally bumps into him causing his jetpack to malfunction sending him into the sarlaac pit.
Boba was mysterious, then expanded upon in Video Games and Books. That's why he became important. Nerds latching on made him cool, and this worked its way into the general cultural appeal of Star Wars. Boba's popularity had nearly nothing to do with the films outside of him looking cool and saying nothing. But that's always been a "cool" thing. Double for adding to his mystery as well.

Rabble rabble rabble!
You’ll get downvoted to oblivion but this whole thing rings true with one thing, there is no way to please the modern SW audience, none whatsoever. Even IF a movie is made that follows some of the more solid theories out there, creates beloved characters, and “takes risks” people will still complain. It’s what modern cinema is it seems.

These are the same people citing the RT number as proof it sucks.
I hate Rotten Tomatoes and have never cited their rating on this site.

Snoke’s death was cool but his backstory left completely unexplained was a massive problem

This is true, but it was all a result of terrible character writing and development, and arch in the original movies. Boba transcended that BECAUSE he was handled so poorly. That doesn't get his character a pass. His death scene is so terrible. It's barely even in the movie.

Do you remember those threads?
Yes. The show was dogshit. The last three seasons were dogshit, although this most recent season was better than the 2 before it.

No, but it was for the sake of this discussion. People are making it a point to repeat over and over how much they hate the movie, much like then, and especially when someone comes along and says positive things.
I shouldnt have to explain this but here we are.

The fact that you're complaining about that is hilarious. Like you didn't see it coming.

you think this is a TLJ bash thread?
if it is, it's because every TLJ thread here is a bash thread, thus expanding on my point even further.

His death scene is meaningless because he is generally a meaningless character according to THIS Universe, meaning, our new universe were the Expanded stuff doesn't exist. He's a re shirt, a side character, whose sole purpose was to be a clone for the clone army, that's all we know. We don't need to know more.

seriously. This is a fanboy bashing thread if anything. OP and the reddit guy who made the post was obviously mocking the “‘modern SW Fan”

When the OT came out there was not an already established massive universe that it was continuing. Those questions didn't exist because they didn't need to.
There is now. And in that universe there is a rule of two Sith and a very clear necessity to be trained in the ways of the force and the dark side, and 30 years ago both of those Sith died along with every Jedi not named Luke Skywalker. Every Sith and every Jedi was dead. All of them. And The Force Awakens confirms that in that span the Jedi and Sith are basically relegated to myths that don't exist anymore. So the question who the frick is Snoke, how is he more powerful than any Sith we've ever seen, how has he been alive and operating since the time line of the OT, how did he operate under Luke's nose, and where did he come from are very valid questions.
Luke is supposed to basically be the last person alive who understands the Sith and the Jedi and the force. But somehow this Snoke guy is still here and knows the entire past of the Jedi and the Skywalkers and the Sith and is a super powerful dark force user? It's shitty writing.
You can't understand that difference?

If you believe this to be true, then start it and see what happens. But don't assume some people will do something, make your decisions and assumptions based on that, and then never do it while at the same time hold people to that outcome.

whoever wrote that is fricking retarded...what the frick is a "modern" star wars fan
it isn't an argument over what star wars should be. a good movie is a good movie and a bad movie is a bad movie
the last jedi is a bad movie
star wars and the empire strikes back are awesome, formative, quintessential movie experiences that resonate 40 years later...no one is going to remember this schlock

The same thing could be said for Snoke, which is another big reasons the movie is getting shite on for not being developed. Side character, sith, only purpose was to make the path to Ren the antagonist, which is all that matters to this trilogy, and he did. BUT OMG NO WE NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT SNOKES BG. WHY IS HE EVIL
Don't even get me started on Palpatine, who wasn't developed either until 20 years later.
It's pure hypocrisy.
