I enjoyed it. The Chevy stuff was over-the-top but it also fit the character. His dad was a big car guy, being brand loyal is spot on with an old curmudgeon, and it fit into his rivalry with the neighbor.

I could have done without the tranny character, but it was a minor subplot.

Overall I laughed a good bit at his interactions with Marisol and Tommy, although in the real world Marisol would have told him to frick off.
