40th anniversary of Transformers: The Movie (1986)

I just got home from seeing this. Last time I saw it in a theater was 1986. I cannot even begin to guess how many times I’ve watched it in the last 40 years. It was an emotional roller coaster, as always. This was the first movie I ever saw in a theater with a cuss word.
Anybody else go? If so, are there any theories out there about the new short film at the end?

Saw it in the theater in 86 as well. Couldn't believe they killed Prime and others just to sell new toys.

I watched it about 20 years ago for the first time since the 80s. It was pretty bad at times. There were several parts that were repeated during the Junkions scene. Pretty obviously intended to sell more toys.

Legit hated that movie as a kid. Should probably give it another shot. I was only 5-6 and maybe didn’t get everything that happened. My dad saw that I wasn’t into it and we went to Pizza Hut

Went to see this last night for the first time ever and thoroughly enjoyed it, but the real treat was after the credits rolled. Stay after the credits!!!

I don't know if it was widely known, it had to be, but this wasn't a post credit scene. It was a full fricking TV length episode of new material to honor the fans and Peter Cullen. It was done in an updated cartoon/CGI style and looked amazing

I didn’t know this was at theaters. I first saw it in theater in 1986. I was obsessed with transformers and my dad brought me. Movie blew my mind. A planet sized robot that eats worlds? frick yeah. Oh but Optimus got beat the frick to death and considering nobody ever got hurt in the cartoon, that was jarring.

There is a brand new mini movie in the post credits in this re-release. Worth it

Glad for this thread bc I didn’t know about this. I still love transformers. I look back at the popular toys from my childhood and transformers were the coolest. I could never get my son interested in them tho. My failing as a parent.

Well shite.. it wasn’t widely known because I took my son and nephew last night and rolled out when the credits started and missed this. frick.
