I just watched this documentary and it was one of the best I've seen in a long time.
I loved the old game footage and it really shows how much slower the game really was back then.
The story line is really good too.
Anyone seen it?

Crazy to think that it really was the first time since civil war that US troops were called in on it's own soil

Basically long story short without specifics, when wright was writing for a magazine he interviewed Buck and then when it was published, it was all twisted and mangled and false, so Buck called and gave him a piece of his mind
30 for 30 comes around and when he was asked to be in it he told him to frick off

FWIW, Wright Thompson seems like a douche with his dumb arse hat, neck beard, and overall punchable face.
eta: disgusting fat arse

Sounds like something that fedora wearing a-hole would do.

Also the part in ghosts where he was running out looking for a fight in the riot is totally false
He wasn't even in Oxford when it started... He was on his way back... When he got here he was walking to his dorm and stumbled across a Marshall... Marshall gets mouthy so Buck beats his arse haha

I didn't know anything about this write Thompson character prior to me watching this.
Why don't y'all like him? I'm not familiar with his work?

This "sports documentary" was fricking awful. It had nothing to do with sports. As someone said, just a bunch of race stuff and, oh, by the way, there's a half back sweep for a gain of five yards.
If this was labeled "Some racist shite happened at Ole Miss" and aired on history channel it would have been on topic

The sad part about the riots and bigotry at Ole Miss on that occasion was that it was a bunch of Georgia Alabama and Arkansas rednecks that jumped in their pickup trucks to come to the aid of the cause. Very few locals rioted. Recent racial incident was a Georgia boy too. Mississippi was the battle field but the trouble makers were mostly out of state.

He seems like a smug pos that hides it with a southern drawl, who wants you to know that he knows more about Faulkner, New Orleans, Oxford, and black people than you do... But that's purely a speculative opinion based on him wearing that dumb arse hat and a coat and tie when it's 103. I'm all for dressing nice and all that bullshite, but give me a break. You're a mediocre writer. Coat and tie when it's hot as hell won't hide that.

Same thing happens with every riot. Locals claim its all out of towners
It's is often true to some extent

I enjoy watching it because I do think Wright Thompson is a good story teller. Maybe its the voice.
I have heard about some inaccuracies so i take it with a grain of salt. If given the chance to talk to Buck THompson or others I may inquire, if it seemed appropriate...

All you have to do is look at the arrest records to see. A good recent analogy was what happened in Mizzu. Not that in Ole Miss' case there wasn't local resentment but there was not violence from the locals.
