Really? Because they were from the same tv show that Woody was on.

The father is dead. Just like how every other Disney movie kid has no or only one parent.

Does he call them Jessie and Bullseye immediately upon possession of them?

He had to have known about it somehow or he wouldn't have had Woody

Woody and Buzz are based on Johnny West and Major Matt Mason, which puts Andy's father being born around 1960. If the dad kept Woody all those years for his son, I'm guessing he'd be showing the son VHS copies of the old Woody TV series as well. It's what guys like us do.

Yes, but I suspect what happened is he walked out and abandoned his family mere months before the first Toy Story and the reason they were moving is Andy's Mom couldn't afford the mortgage alone, so she had to downgrade her house.

I also suspect that Woody was originally Andy's father's toy, and that's why Woody deep down is Andy's favorite toy and why he'd bring Woody to college with him. I also think that Woody never forgave Andy's father for abandoning him and then especially Andy, became bitter (Woody is a bit of a dick), and it caused him to bond even more with Andy.

Internet I'm guessing. Not that much of a stretch that Andy looked up Woody in the early internet and also saw that Woody had a girl counterpart and a horse, and Andy would ask his mother for them, but she was never able to find one of either.

Andy went on dial up to google to see if the cowgirl and horse had names while he was like 8-10 years old? (Beginning play scene of toy story 3) nah I’m not buying it

Plot hollllllleeee

Ok. You have kids? They love to ask questions.

"Where did this toy Woody come from?"
"Oh, what was Woody's Roundup""
"Did he have any friends?"

Woody was part of a toy set that Al was trying to complete, it's not a stretch that Andy could have learned about Woody's friends from whichever of his parents had Woody or even that his parent had the set at one point

Watch toy story 2

The prospector explains that there was only a pilot episode that never aired.

Actually other posters here have a better explanation for it than I do. It's not a stretch that his parents could have told Andy about the other characters on the show.

That's not true. From the Disney Wiki:

quote:

In the film, the show ran from 1949-1957 and gained a great deal of popularity, especially for its lead character, Sheriff Woody.

So yeah, not a stretch that Andy would know who Jessie and Bullseye were. I'm roughly Andy's age and grew up watching The Little Rascals, I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, and Looney Tunes, so I find it very possible Andy was aware of the show.

Nah...it was a popular series. What happened is that it got cancelled as the space race took off and cowboys became less popular. The show they were watching ended on a cliffhanger...

Even so. Do you think Andy went online to look it up. And if he and his mom were familiar with the show, someone would wonder where such an old rare pair of toys in perfect condition came from and just appeared at Andy’s home.

He could’ve googled them between 2 and 3.

Nevermind, others have chimed in.
